Life of Pi 3D

Review

Thanks to GV Mr Popcorn, I won a pair of tickets to catch Life of Pi 3D at GVmax, Vivocity. This time, I brought mummy along cause she's been wanting to catch this movie and since I won tickets.. perrrrrfect! (:

I'm sure many of you would've been inside GVmax auditorium before, if you ever watched especially blockbuster movies. This cinema is one of the biggest auditorium with 602 seats and it has one of the widest screens in Asia (22.4 metres), the length of 2 SBS buses combined.

WOW.
I know right!!

Besides that, before the movie started there was a short interview video regarding GVmax audio surroundings OR rather the speakers. How through time, the speakers installed in cinema's evolved. In the beginning there were just 4 different areas of speakers, the front, back and both sides. Then slowly, more speakers were slowly added but besides having speakers added, every speaker area could be separately "operated". How cool is that?

Ok, here's the main part of my topic.

Life of Pi.
If you guys have read the novel, you'll more or less know the story. BUT, as you also know that movies that orginated from novels usually comes out a little different. It depends on how the director sees the story as. Of course, you'll definitely need the scriptwriter around as well.

I've not read the novel, so i'm not sure how different it would be. The best thing about this movie are the amazing graphics used. It has the kind of avatar graphics feel, especially the scene with Pi and Richard Parker (Tiger) and the sea of jelly fishes. It was such a beautiful scene.

I felt the movie was a little boring during certain parts, cause there were way too much talking. I prefer action/comedy/romance movies. There are really touching moments in this movie as well and what caught my attention was the mention on the different religions, namely hindu, muslim and the mention about christ. Of course, there were parts which were hilarious and really cute moments too!

What's amazing is the connection between a human and an animal. It reminded me of the story Daniel and the Lion's Den from the bible. I love those parts the most. The road to finding oneself and having faith without giving up even though you are left with almost nothing and is all alone. Instead, picking oneself up and motivating oneself to push on just to survive. That fighting spirit is amazing, which is almost what most people lack.

Overall, it's a pretty nice movie. A movie I would say, definitely worth catching! (:

*Warning: there might be some frightening/shocking scenes
